Traveling with cause: Una Experiencia de Voluntariado Inolvidable 🌱🌋🌍
In January, we had the privilege of welcoming Maday, Cristina, Valeria, Sara, Angie, Manuel, and Stephanie. They came as part of Travellers with Cause, an organization that promotes purposeful international volunteering. Their model provides people from all over the world with the opportunity to participate in the development of social projects and work hand in hand with local communities and organizations in different countries. It is an opportunity to volunteer and have an adventurous experience at the same time, something that was especially appealing to this group of young people visiting us from Mexico.
En enero tuvimos el privilegio de tener la visita de Maday, Cristina, Valeria, Sara, Angie, Manuel, Stephanie. Ellos llegaron como parte de Travellers with cause, una organización on que impulsa el voluntariado internacional con propósito. Su modelo brinda la oportunidad a personas de todo el mundo para participar en el desarrollo de los proyectos sociales y trabajan de la mano con comunidades locales y organizaciones en distintos países. Es una oportunidad para hacer voluntariado y tener una experiencia aventurera al mismo tiempo, algo que resulto especialmente atractivos para este grupo de jovenes que nos visitan desde México.
This incredible group arrived in Guatemala to help La Esperanza School for a week. During this time, they stayed with a host mother in Antigua, in a cozy home very close to the school, which allowed them to walk there every morning without any problems. The day after their arrival, they showed up at the school and were greeted by the EFTC team with a very warm welcome. They immediately began to support us in various activities within the school.
The adventurous part of the trip was also present. Travellers with a Cause organized a trek to the volcano. This experience became one of the most exciting moments of their stay, combining nature, challenge, and unforgettable landscapes. After this activity, some returned to their country directly, while another group decided to stay a few more days to continue enjoying the cultural richness of Guatemala.
Their time at La Esperanza School left them with many lessons learned, new friendships, and the experience of having done their part to build a promising future for our students. We are sure that this experience will remain in their memories for a lifetime, and the school's doors will always be open to welcome them back.
Este grupo increíble llego a Guatemala para ayudar a la Escuela La Esperanza por una semana. Durante este tiempo se hospedaron con una madre anfitriona en Antigua, en un hogar acogedor y muy cerca de la Escuela lo cual les permitió caminar cada mañana sin problemas. Al día siguiente de su llegada, se presentaron en la escuela y fueron recibidos por el equipo de EFTC con una muy cálida bienvenida. De inmediato comenzaron a apoyarnos en distintas actividades actividades dentro de la escuela.
La parte aventurera del viaje también estuvo presente. Travellers with a Cause organizo un trekking al volcán. Esta experiencia se convirtió en uno de los momentos mas emocionantes de su estancia combinando naturaleza, desafío y paisajes inolvidables Luego de esta actividad, algunos regresaron a su país directamente, mientras que otro grupo decidió quedarse unos días más para continuar disfrutando de la riqueza cultural del Guatemala.
Su paso por la Escuela La Esperanza dejo muchos aprendizajes, nuevas amistades y experiencia de haber aportado su granito de arena para construir un futuro prometedor para nuestros estudiantes. Estamos seguros que esta experiencia quedara en su memoria para toda la vida y las puertas de la escuela siempre estarán abiertas para recibirlos nuevamente.
Whether behind the scenes or working one-on-one with our students, all our volunteers are invaluable to the work we do at the School of Hope. Many leave with new skills, and a sense that they have learned as much from the students’ as they have taught - not to mention memories of Guatemala to last a lifetime.

Ya sea tras bambalinas o trabajando individualmente con nuestros estudiantes, todos nuestros voluntarios tienen un valor incalculable en el trabajo que realizamos en la Escuela La Esperanza.
