Indi & Bayma: Two little artists, one big impact ๐จ๐
Meet Indi and Bayma, two young artists with big hearts and creative hands. After learning about The School of Hope during an assembly at their own school, they were deeply moved by the stories of other students just like them, growing in completely different circumstances.
Inspired to make a difference and with the support of their mum, Lauri Hasting, an illustrator and screen print artist, they came up with an incredible idea. A new limited edition of screen prints to raise money for charity and their money boxes too.
Over Easter holidays they started to work. With creativity they designed two beautiful prints: a Tiger and Monarch Butterfly.
These stunning prints were exhibited and sold at the Lady Bay Arts Festival, where the whole local community recognised their hard work and supported the cause.
Indi and Bayma proved that when art and creativity meets kindness, even the smallest actions can grow into something extraordinary.
In this short interview, they share more about their project and how they turned art materials into something truly special.
Why did you decide to raise money for the School of Hope? What inspired you?
Indi - We learnt about the School of Hope in assembly at school. We wanted to help the children buy things they need.
Bayma - We wanted to support the children.
What made you choose the tiger and the monarch butterfly for your prints?
Indi - The tiger is my second favourite animal. I did a drawing of one and mummy thought it was good.
Bayma - We were looking at different animals and insects online, and I came across a Monarch Butterfly. I loved the look of it, so I decided to draw it for my print.
What was the most fun part of making this artwork?
Indi - I loved doing the screen printing.
Bayma - I loved screen printing it, as we got to mix the ink colours and layer them up to create new colours.
How did people react when they saw your prints at the festival?
Indi - People said it was really good and they liked it.
Bayma - They said they loved the colours and contrast. Some people bought one.
Do you think art can help the world? Why or how do you believe it could make a difference?
Indi - Yes. Because you can make art and sell it to make money and help people.
Bayma -Yes, because instead of screaming out your feelings you can put them on to a piece of paper and make them into art.
What advice would you give to other kids who want to fundraise like you? Anything you learned you think might be helpful for them?
Indi - You can do it!
Bayma - Stay positive, even if things don't go to plan!
Thank you Indi and Bayma for supporting the School of Hope and making a difference through your art! At EFTC we are so proud of what you have achieved. Your artwork is a powerful example for our young supporters, showing that you are never too young to make a difference.
From painting, running, swimming, baking cakes, climbing mountains to simply inviting friends for dinner, over the years our supporters have come up with many wonderful ideas to raise funds for us.
