Celebrating Guatemala
Celebrando Guatemala
Guatemala Independence Day is celebrate every year on September 15. At The School of Hope, we dedicated an entire week to celebrating of Guatemala’s independence. It was the perfect opportunity for our students to learn this historic event and connect with their cultural heritage.
Monday:
The national week began with a civic ceremony led by the second-grade class, focused on the theme of World Cleanup Day. Members of the Culture and Sports Committee shared the week's planned activities.
The start of the week was especially meaningful, as it marked the beginning of a week full of activities. After the opening assembly, all the students gathered with their class teacher to plan ahead what they were doing for their civic corner and for the upcoming presentations.
This year, the presentations focused on songs. Each group selected a Guatemalan song to celebrate their culture.
Wednesday:
On Wednesday, students from Prepa to 6th grade, took the stage. Each group brought a unique song and young voices filled the courtyard with energy and sense of unity.
Thursday:
The following day, our seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students prepared their musical presentations. Each group selected a song that represented the Guatemalan identity, celebrating its rich cultural heritage. These presentations not only showcased their talent but also fostered a strong sense of community.
Friday:
On Friday, we held a special assembly led by our third-grade students, centered on the theme of the International Day of Peace.
Our students did an incredible job today presenting projects in honor of Guatemala’s Independence Day. Each class represented a different department of the country, giving us the opportunity to learn more about Guatemala’s diverse culture and history.
In the afternoon, our outreach team visited some of our Further Education students. These young students who have already graduated from the School of Hope keep showing an outstanding commitment to their academic journey. They were recognised for their grades and behaviour and our team couldn’t have been prouder to be there.
