Caminata por el día de la mujer 🧡

On March 5th, our 8th and 9th grade students joined the community walk organized by the Municipality in commemoration of International Women’s Day. For this reason, our March newsletter pays tribute to all the girls and women who are part of the EFTC community. This year, we marched to remember, to honour, and to ensure that our girls feel confident raising their voices and fighting for their opportunities.

El 5 de marzo, nuestros estudiantes de 8vo y 9no grado se unieron a la caminata comunitaria organizada por la Municipalidad de Jocotenango en conmemoración del Día Internacional de la Mujer. Por esta razón, nuestro boletín de marzo rinde homenaje a todas las niñas y mujeres que forman parte de la comunidad EFTC. Este año marchamos para recordar, para honrar y para asegurar que nuestras niñas se sientan confiadas al alzar su voz y luchar por sus oportunidades.

The preparation for this event began a couple of days earlier, as our students poured their creativity into designing beautiful posters. Each one carried inspiring and powerful messages that reflected their commitment to standing up for women’s rights and supporting one another.

This was not an activity carried out only by our female students. Our male students also joined the walk as we always aim to ensure that they are also aware of the importance of gender equality and respect.

We are proud to see our students raise their voices and stand for a future where every girl knows her worth, understands her rights, and believes she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. Moments like these inspire the next generation to keep moving forward, with confidence, purpose, and hope.

During the event, schools from across Jocotenango were invited to participate, creating a strong sense of community and shared purpose. The walk concluded with a ceremony led by the Mayor of Jocotenango and his wife, whose presence highlighted the significance of the day for the entire community.

La preparación para este evento comenzó un par de días antes, cuando nuestros estudiantes pusieron toda su creatividad en el diseño de unos hermosos carteles. Cada uno llevaba mensajes inspiradores y poderosos que reflejaban su compromiso con defender los derechos de las mujeres y apoyarse mutuamente.

Esta no fue una actividad realizada únicamente por nuestras estudiantes. Nuestros estudiantes varones también se unieron a la caminata, ya que siempre buscamos que ellos también comprendan la importancia de la igualdad de género y el respeto.

Nos enorgullece ver a nuestros estudiantes alzar su voz y apostar por un futuro en el que cada niña conozca su valor, entienda sus derechos y crea que puede lograr todo lo que se proponga. Momentos como este inspiran a la próxima generación a seguir avanzando con confianza, propósito y esperanza.

This day is not only a moment to reflect on the history, courage, and resilience of women around the world, but also a reminder of the importance of continuing to create opportunities where girls and women can learn, lead, and pursue their dreams. That is why today we invite you to join us and support our female students with a fundraiser targeting the programmes that help them stay in The School of Hope and shape their own futures.

Este día no solo es un momento para reflexionar sobre la historia, el valor y la resiliencia de las mujeres alrededor del mundo, sino también un recordatorio de la importancia de seguir creando oportunidades para que niñas y mujeres puedan aprender, liderar y perseguir sus sueños.
