First Steps into Their Future 🎓🚀
For our Year 9 students, this year marks an especially important moment in their lives. Although it is only February, each day brings them a little closer to that long‑awaited milestone: their graduation from the School Of Hope. In just a few months, they will be facing one of the most significant decisions they have made so far, choosing the path they wish to follow beyond the doors of our school.
They are not just students; they are part of our family. That is why we are committed to supporting them with close and personalised guidance during this meaningful stage. And this is where Ilse, our head of vocational guidance, becomes an essential guide. Her mission is to accompany each student as they explore their academic and professional future. She organises and prepares talks, administers skills assessments, and conducts one‑to‑one interviews to get to know each student in depth.
Para nuestros alumnos de noveno grado, este año marca un momento sumamente importante en sus vidas. Aunque apenas estamos en febrero, cada día los acerca un poco más a ese momento tan esperado: su graduación de la Escuela La Esperanza. En unos meses, estarán frente a una de las decisiones más importantes que han tomado hasta ahora, eligiendo el camino que seguirán más allá de las puertas de nuestra escuela.
Ellos no son solo estudiantes; son parte de nuestra familia. Por eso, nos esforzamos en acompañarlos con un apoyo cercano y personalizado en esta etapa tan especial. Y es aquí donde Ilse, nuestra encargada de orientación vocacional, se convierte en una guía fundamental. Su misión es acompañar a cada estudiante mientras exploran su futuro académico y profesional. Ella organiza y prepara las charlas, aplica evaluaciones de habilidades y realiza entrevistas uno a uno para conocer a fondo a cada joven.
For this reason, today we would like to share what the vocational workshop was like for our Year 9 students this February. Ilse opened the session by introducing them to the SWOT analysis. This is a tool that helps them identify their Strengths, Opportunities, Weaknesses and Threats, allowing them to understand themselves better and make more informed decisions.
Por ello, hoy les queremos compartir cómo fue el taller workshop vocaciones que tuvieron nuestros estudiantes de noveno grado en Febrero. Ilse abrió la sesión introduciéndoles el análisis FODA. Esta es una herramienta que les permite identificar sus Fortalezas, Oportunidades, Debilidades y Amenazas para que puedan conocerse mejor y tomar decisiones más conscientes.
Then our students completed a questionnaire designed to help them discover who they are and what motivates them. They answered questions about their skills, interests, dreams, how they imagine themselves in a few years, and the activities they enjoy. This first step allows Ilse to analyse their responses and guide them more clearly throughout their vocational journey.
Luego nuestros estudiantes completaron un cuestionario diseñado para descubrir quiénes son y qué los mueve. Ellos respondieron preguntas sobre sus habilidades, intereses, sueños, cómo se imaginan en unos años y qué actividades disfrutan. Este primer acercamiento le permite a Ilse analizar sus respuestas y guiarlos con mayor claridad en su proceso vocacional.
In addition, during the workshop the students used the Habilmind programme. Working from their laptops, they completed two assessments: one on Fundamental Skills and another on Professional Preferences. These tools will give Ilse a deeper understanding of each student, and based on that information she will begin designing the upcoming workshops for the rest of the year.
Además, durante el taller utilizaron el programa Habilmind. Desde sus laptops realizaron dos pruebas: una de Habilidades Fundamentales y otra de Preferencias Profesionales. Estas herramientas le brindarán a Ilse una mirada más profunda de cada uno de los estudiantes y en base esa información ira diseñando los próximos workshops del año.
